Inception ka Gol Maal !!!

With Christopher Nolan's Inception out everybody is having a feeling "been there...seen that...discussed that".
It happened to me as well. The movie takes you in multi-level dreams and by the time it sinks your mind has gone haywire
so to say "GolMaal". (SPOILER: esp when top spinning scene hits you).

Today i heard the song from the Hrishi da classic movie "Gol Maal". Song lyrics by none other that Gulzar himself.
Well song gave me strong enough thoughts to sue Chris Nolan for plagiarism. Want to know why..listen to it....

Damn!! doesn't it say "Sapne mein dekha sapna" with Ratna(Palekars on screen sister) giving him the much required kick by saying
"Ratna khadi thi haath mein chadi thi" .....

Well think about this and enjoy the song as well.. killer combo RD, Kishore and Gulzar

And it rained .......

Wooohoo!! Finally monsoon rains lashed Pune......After long and one of the hottest summer this was welcome break..Got stuck in traffic for 1.5 hrs ..but who is complaining :D ....

It rained around 65mm in half an hour...not to mention the streets were overflowing aka flooding with water ...putting some pics here ...

And there is this place on University-Pashan road...it seems some water holding mechanism failed and water is gushing out of the gate as if a dam broke.....walked through this flow just like that :-)

Finally had many(count lost) plates of hot bhaji(pakoras) when i reached home....yumm!!
Hope the rains continue!!!

Daylight Savings..

It is that time of year again when the ppl from Uncle Sam's (and many of their followers)change their timings popularly known as daylight savings.

Well, being in India a common question starts doing the rounds whenever these changes
occur
Person 1: "yaar yeh daylight change hua to wahan ke log ghadi ek ghanta aage lete ki peeche"
Person 2:(Very confidently) "Aage.."
Person 1 : (going back to his days of solving time,speed,distance)"yaane..woh....nahi re..kuch to... "
Person 2: (out of the blue)"Arey nahi ..right ..right..haan.."(lost it)
Person 1 : "kyaa??"
Person 2: "Peeche lete hai i guess.."("guess"..something is crashing ...ahh confidence)

The main motivation behind daylight savings now a days is energy conservation and stuff (tried reading on this..as to how energy is saved but a letter makes its mark on my face '?' )

Whatever the case may be daylight savings is kind of confusing stuff..some countries shift their time by like 20 mins (translated confusion++)
why oh why play with time....

Back in office here we are literally saving daylight(rather saved from daylight)....all the calls/meetings being pushed to late evenings..who the hell wants daylight...save yourself from it.

Nonetheless this thing is here to stay ..and i too am here to stay too..(late..damn)..

May god show them the right light......

PS: "I think peeche hi lete hai confirm...google karna hai kya " :)

Statistically Speaking....

Well, to begin with This is my 2nd which i am writing from the same desk at 12.40PM
with the text editor which i used earlier twice and with typing speed of 40 sitting on the same chair...........

shoo!!!!...i can go on bombard you guys with n number of such statistics ...but then what...
is of any use....at least not to 99.99% (u got me :-) ) of you guys.

Giving this kind of non-useful (at least for me) seems to be the 'In Thing' in cricket.
In the latest cricket T20 match that i saw there was a stat for free hit,
it gave number of 1's 2's 4's etc scored on free hit. My question stands what will i do with it??!!.

In cricket i agree that there are some statistics which we do want to know and which can be used like centuries scored , strike rate , wickets taken etc.We are even happy to see those.
But then comes a display showing some totally useless stuff.
One of the display showing the points at which the ball hit the ground when bowler bowled. Tell me one thing with this display can any one tell me if on the next ball the batsman would get out. No you cant. Then why have it!! This is just one of those displays...

In few days you will have so much data that channels wont hesitate showing you something like
number of times the player ate at home (basically maa ke haath ka khana) and scored sixes or say player got out at 25 deg C temprature.
(if these start coming happens then i am quitting)

To whatever extent i have watched other sports this game takes the cup for showing huge and quite useless data.
I can go on different non-useful displays but then why not you give it a try. Next time you watch a match you keep a look out for them and then you would realize!!.

Working for a company whose sheer existence lies on word called Statistics i do understand the importance of correct statistics and its use. But then even stats have to deliver they need to give output which can even be a smile when some one tells that you scored 98 marks which are best in like last 5 yrs.Everything has to have a purpose. There one excellent story in Marathi written Va.Pu.Kale called 'Statistics Marathe'. Its a amazing story where a man speaks nothing but numbers. Listen to it some time u will enjoy.

Nonetheless lets hope we would be fired with less useless data and so that we at least make the best of the useful one...

So until we meet again when i would write by 3rd Blog sitting on same chair using the.....(here we go again..i need a break :P )

And then I started blogging......

Well now..I had to do this...I mean it was long time due ...I could wait no more to write my first blog...As happens it was a bit late by the time I realized that blogs are so called "In" thing.
As happened with orkut , one day one of friend comes and says i will scrap you on orkut....wow wow wow...hey hold on dude what did you just said...what is Orkut??!! and then I joined orkut.

Blog was like history repeating itself :one day one of friend comes and says did you read my blog....wow wow wow...hey hold on dude what did you just said...what is Blog??!! and then I started blogging [:-)](atleast in read only mode)
One important commandment I realized before i start writing blogs is :

Thou shalt use sentences to get the following reaction.. "Amazing blog, i just need to look up following 10 words in dictionary (well i wanted to use lexicon here but nonetheless..) "
All and all i feel happy to debut here and add a new social tag as blogger to my self..Hold on I see my Boss' eye tracking me..a non-business screen on my monitor..RED ALERT!!!..Looks like I would need to stop here. I would be back soon........................................
